Things to Consider Before Renovating Your Commercial Pool

Posted on: October 2nd, 2019 by

Renovating your pool at home is one thing, but a commercial pool renovation comes with an entirely different set of concerns and things to look out for. If you’re looking at the possibility of renovating a pool for commercial purposes, here are some things you need to consider before you get started.

Budget

This one is probably the most obvious, but it needs to be said. Whether you’re working within a tight budget set by the company or trying to find financial support through other means, there’s likely a number that you need to stick within to make this project successful on more than just an aesthetic level. Knowing that number and understanding how it limits or opens up your options for the renovation is important.

Clientele

Consider who uses your pool on a regular basis. Is this the pool at a country club that’s going to attract people who are used to living in lavish surroundings and expect nothing but the finest? Or are you the local rec club, and your pool sees hundreds, even thousands of people in a given week? Do you offer classes in your pool? If so, what types of classes are you offering? Kids’ classes and elderly classes have different needs. Likewise, pools, where serious athletes do their laps and pools where the kids spend their summer days, have different needs as well. Knowing who uses your pool is a big key into deciding not only what’s most cost-effective, but what will be most durable and aesthetically-pleasing for your specific clientele.

Use and Monitoring

In the same way that you need to consider who uses your pool, you should consider how often it’s used, who monitors it, and what kind of cleaning is done. Understanding the maintenance schedule of the pool (if you’re not the one implementing it!) gives you an idea of the kind of durability you need to look for. It also says a lot about what kind of material you might be looking for, as some are more high maintenance than others. If there’s a full-time crew dedicated to ensuring the pool remains in tip-top condition, that widens the scope of what’s available to you. However, if the maintenance crew only visits once a week or less, you need something that can hold up to the downtime without showing that it hasn’t been cared for daily.

Reliable Team

Commercial pool renovations are not for the faint of heart. They require an entirely different outlook than a home pool renovation. You need a team you can count on to get the job done well, on time, and within the required budget. But you also need a team that understands what it takes to make your project successful.
