Favorite Atlanta Swimming Pools from Atlanta Pool Company Allen Pool Service

One thing that keeps people from renovating their pools is knowing that they won’t be able to use their pool while renovations are underway. At Allen Pool Service, we work hard to minimize the downtime of your pool. We try to do as much work as possible in the off-season and work quickly and efficiently when we are working on your pool.

However, if your pool is down and you do want to go swimming, it’s worth knowing that Atlanta still has some great public pools you can visit. Here are some good options to consider.

Piedmont Park

Piedmont Park is far and away the favorite public pool in Atlanta. Located in Midtown Atlanta in Piedmont Park, this pool features four lap lanes, beach entry, and a channel with current for floating. The landscaped deck is nice, and there are adult swim times, so you don’t always have to swim with kids.

The only downside is that this is a very popular pool, so it can often end up turning people away because of the crowds.

Candler Park

Located in the Candler Park neighborhood, nestled between Lake Clair and Little Five Points, this is a public swimming pool surrounded by nice green space. It’s an enjoyable little pool, but the relatively small size means that it sometimes turns guests away, especially because it’s often free.

Garden Hills

Garden Hills is a little further out than the other pools we’ve been looking at, but it’s only about 13 minutes from Midtown via Peachtree. Located in Garden Hills, this pool avoids turning people away by sticking to a reservation system. You have to reserve a spot at the pool and get a block of two hours for swimming. Still, with the low admission cost (currently just $5 per person), the trouble of making a reservation might be worth the assurance of knowing there’s a spot for you.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Recreation and Aquatic Center

Located between downtown and Inman Park, this recreation center is known for its warm and clean pool. While some think the water is too warm, everyone loves the friendly staff and the bright atmosphere created by the building’s numerous skylights.

The center also functions as a cultural center that regularly hosts community events that are fun, educational, and interesting.

Grant Park Pool

Located in Grant Park in the Summerhill neighborhood, where you’ll also find Zoo Atlanta, this pool typically offers free swimming in the afternoons, from 12:30-4pm (though not on holidays). Otherwise, the pool charges $4 a day for swimming. Don’t count on concessions being available, though you can reserve the pool for a private party.

Make Your Home Pool Its Best

Although there are some great public pools around, nothing beats the joy and comfort of having your own pool. The tradeoff might be the hassle of maintaining your pool. However, Allen Pool Service can take that difficulty off your hands. Our goal is to make it easy for you to enjoy all the benefits of your pool without having to do any of the work. Since 1972 we’ve been helping Atlantans love their pools by maintaining pools and renovating pools that are damaged or out of style.
