Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, full circle moments have been something of a recurring theme for Cliff, Allen Pool Service’s owner. Having grown up in the Dunwoody area, he has countless memories of swimming in the local neighborhood pool. This past year, a local Dunwoody neighborhood pool was looking for a reputable company to renovate their community pool not far from where Cliff grew up.
This particular full-circle moment led to a meeting in late 2018 with a member of the Village Mill neighborhood, requesting a quote to completely renovate the pool. After submitting the quote for an overhaul including a new deck, new tile race lanes, new waterline tile, new quartz plaster, and a transformation that turned the baby pool into a zero-entry baby pool, Allen Pool service was awarded the contract.
We hit the ground running in early 2019, determining timelines, completion dates, tile choices, deck colors and finishes, and more. Every detail of the project fell into place through intentional conversation and communication. One of the keys to our success is the effort we put into making sure everyone involved with a project understands the pool renovation process and makes selections they will love long after the project is complete.
Once all decisions were finalized, our team started by draining both pools and removing the existing waterline tile and race tiles. Then, we acid washed the pools to prepare the surfaces and removed or repaired all cracks and worn plaster. Once the pool surface was smooth and ready for it, we applied the bonding coat and installed new tile at the waterline and replaced the race lane tiles as well. After plastering the pool with Quartz Blue, we moved on to the deck. Due to the age of the deck, we repaired all cracks and resurfaced the deck completely with a modified cement product. Finishing the deck with an acrylic stain chosen by the customer, we finished off the job by measuring, ordering, and installing a new cover for the pool with new anchors.
The Village Mill board was thrilled with the final product and even more thrilled that we completed the project on time and on budget. Today, we’re proud to have contributed to a well-loved neighborhood pool and another full-circle moment for Cliff, our owner.
